Description
Supporting Agent in Gold Extraction
While sodium cyanide plays the main role in gold leaching, sodium hydroxide, also known as caustic soda, is used to support cyanidation by adjusting the pH level of the leaching solution. A higher pH reduces the consumption of cyanide and prevents the release of toxic hydrogen cyanide gas.
