  • A common problem in the beneficiation of lithium ore

Time: 2022-12-13 Source: Sodium Cyanide Manufacturers Writer: Dasenchemicals
The common issues associated with the beneficiation of lithium ore

    Enhances productivity

Lithium minerals include spodumene, lepidolite, lithium feldspar, and iron lepidolite. Since the ore properties of these lithium minerals are completely different, the beneficiation schemes are similarly different.
After getting the ore, X-ray diffraction mineral analysis is the first choice to determine the type of lithium mineral, and then proceed with the corresponding beneficiation plan.

    1. Spodumene: a fatty acid collector under alkaline conditions
    2. Lepidolite: under acidic, neutral and alkaline conditions, amine and fatty acid collectors can be used
    3. Lithium feldspar: under acidic conditions, amine collector
    4. Iron lithium mica: strong magnetic separation or amine collector

Depending on the type of lithium mineral, beneficiation schemes will differ completely.
Weathering causes lithium minerals to be easily polluted by metal ions, such as iron and aluminum, resulting in poor selectivity. This means that desliming is an essential step in beneficiation of lithium minerals regardless of their type! There is activation on the one hand! The other side of the coin is that it can reduce the dosage of medications! Desliming is generally controlled at about 10%, if it is too high, the loss of lithium will be too large.
When it is too low, the desliming effect won't be as good, so the choice of grinding fineness and desliming equipment becomes crucial. We have mud buckets, thickeners, and more!

Among the most common collectors for lithium mines are fatty acids, amines, and neutral oils. Fatty acids are anion collectors and amines are anion collectors. The difference in surface potential between lithium minerals and gangue minerals determines the optimum pH value for separation, especially when amine collectors are used, which are extremely sensitive.
It is often determinable whether a pH range is appropriate or not by determining the separation effect. There are three factors that determine whether ore is selected well:
    1. Is the mud removed well
    2. The pH value is negative
    3. Are the collectors well selected?

What is the best way to choose lithium ore?
