How to recover gold from gold-containing cyanide waste?

Today, let's talk about how to extract gold-containing cyanide waste liquid. Now the most important gold plating process is gold plating with cyanide. Because the finish and fastness of the coating made by cyanide gold plating are better than those of cyanide-free plating. After the electroplating solution has been used for a period of time, the impurities in it have accumulated to a certain extent and must be recycled. On the one hand, the precious metals in the waste liquid are extracted, and on the other hand, the cyanide is processed into substances that are not harmful to the environment. A variety of recovery methods are used in the precious metal recovery industry, including electrolysis, replacement, and adsorption.
In the first electrolysis method, the general process is to prepare an open electrolytic cell, and then use stainless steel as the anode and pure gold flakes as the cathode. The waste liquid is placed in an electrolytic cell and electrolyzed by direct current. Under the action of direct current, gold ions migrate to the cathode and deposit on the cathode. When the gold precipitated from the cathode accumulates to a certain amount, it is taken out and melted into gold.
The second is the replacement method. This method is to add an appropriate reducing agent to the waste liquid to restore the gold inside. General reducing agents are divided into inorganic reducing agents, such as zinc powder, iron powder and so on. Or organic reducing agents, such as oxalic acid, hydrazine hydrate water and the like. The general process of replacing with zinc powder is to put the waste liquid in a plastic container, then add about 1.5 times the theoretical amount of zinc powder, and then stir. After the replacement product is filtered, remember to immerse it in sulfuric acid. The purpose of this step is to remove excess zinc powder, then wash and dry, and finally roast at high temperature to obtain gold.
The third activated carbon adsorption method, the general process of this method is adsorption, desorption, activated carbon backwashing and gold extraction from the backwashing solution. Because activated carbon has high adsorption capacity for gold cyanide complexes, activated carbon can be put into waste liquid for adsorption. After adsorption, the activated carbon was dehydrated by centrifugation. Then, a mixed solution consisting of 10% NaCN and 1% NaOH was added to the activated carbon, heated and fully stirred for desorption. The filtrate obtained by filtration is a gold-containing backwash. The backwash solution is then electrolyzed to obtain gold.
