Is gold heap leaching suitable for all types of ores?
Time: 2022-08-22 Source: Writer: Dasenmining
The leaching rate of gold is relatively low in heap leaching of gold because the ore particles are relatively coarse and the cyanide leaching agent is weak. Therefore, it is only suitable for processing low-grade gold ores, especially low-grade oxidation ores, most of which are surface oxidation ores.
There are more than ten types of oxidized ores that can be heap leached according to a variety of industrial practices, including gold-bearing quartz veins, gold-bearing breccias, structural altered rocks, andesite, sandstone, porphyry, hydrothermal metamorphic rocks, silicified mylonite, and secondary gold-bearing gossans. There are several types of gold that are susceptible to heap leaching, including gold that is highly oxidized, gold stored in gangues or mineral fissures, and gold with small particles.
The three main types of gold ores that are suitable for heap leaching are described above.
① Disseminated oxidized ore;
② Sulfide ore in which gold is not closely associated with sulfide minerals;
③ Vein gold deposit or placer gold deposit with small gold particles or large specific surface area of gold particles.
Heap leaching requires the following characteristics in the ore:
① The gold grade is low, most of which are in the range of 1.0 ~ 3.0g/t, and only the gold ore grade of individual deposits is greater than 3.0g/t;
② The gold is fine in particle size or flat, which is easy to cyanide leaching;
③ The ore is porous and permeable due to oxidation and weathering;
④ Gold in ores with few pores can be exposed by crushing;
⑤ The ore contains no or less acidic substances and no or less elements that can react with cyanide;
⑥ The ore does not contain substances that adsorb or precipitate dissolved gold.
